Can a Computer as a Good as Our Brain?

The computer company, IBM, wants to make a computer which is able to operate as human beings’ brain. They work together with 5 universities in the United States (U.S.) in a project worth U.S. $ 4.9 millions.
The  project entitled ‘Cognitive Computing via Synaptronics and Supercomputing’ is funded by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), a part of the U.S. defense agencies, the Pentagon.

Of course, there is a background why this project was released. IBM explained that  the volume of digital data continues to explode, but the ability of technology to process it more behind. Therefore,  the computer which copies how the human brain works can be expected to integrate and analyze data from many different sources quickly.

In this project, IBM will examine the structure and function of the human brain, then to try to be implemented in  computer. IBM relies on nano technology to copy  nervous system in the brain that can be implemented in the computer system.

Josephine Cheng from IBM said that this company believes that this initiative will help to design the future of the computer significantly. The universities which are  involved in this project are Stanford University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Columbia University Medical Center, Cornell and the University of California at Merced.
