China will Test 1,000 Electric Cars

China will test 1,000 electric cars in ten big cities. The cars that will be tested include fuel cell, hybrid, and pure electric. Besides, the government also prepares the facilities. This test will be held in Shanghai, Dalian, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Changsha, Chingqing, Tianjin, Beijing, and Hangzhou. The government also has prepared fund into USD 117.3 million to develop electric car industry in China.


Wang Gang, the Minister of Science and Technology, said that this test is intended to prepare China to enter green tech era in three years to come. He also told that China will add cars and cities where the cars will be tested.

China targets there will be 10,000 electric cars in the ten cities in 2010. Further, the cars also can full the standards in each city.

In addition, State Power Grid Corporation planned to converse commercial car engine, such as bus and taxi to be electric. There are some companies support this program, i.e. Wanxiang Group, BYD Auto, and Shenzhen Wuzhoulong Motors. These companies not only produce electrical cars, but also ensure the electrical supply to charging station.

China is a country in which the second auto industry in the world appears. In 2007, China’s car industry achieved into 8.88 millions unit. The booming of cars in China causes environmental and fuel supply problems. Therefore, the government promotes hybrid and electrical car using. Recent days, there are some car produces that sell hybrid cars in China, such as Honda, Toyota, and General Motors. Besides they are expensive, Chinese people have not been aware to use this kind of car.

In brief, with this test, government hopes people want to use electrical cars.
