Computer Helps Cancer Patients

Hmm, how can computer helps cancer patients? Actually, it deals with a research conducted by MIT. For some years, they have developed a model by using computer in order to describe the pathways of cell signals. After that, they decided to break this model for knowing the effects.

On October 17, the researchers reported their result in the journal Cell. The main point is they were able to find new pathways where the cells’ chemical information process exists. This research result will help us for maximizing disease treatments effectiveness. Here, the main issue is chemotherapy.

As we know, two years ago, Michael Yaffe, a researcher from MIT and his partners found a computational model which permits them for observing the connections between some pathways of cell signals that control the response conducted by cells to growth factors, inflammation, DNA damage and others.

Finally, this model is able to make researchers find the ways cells respond to growth factors. Even, we can know their responds to chemotherapy. It means that, we can help cancer patients with this data.

To do this research, the researcher use “model breakpoint analysis” for getting some useful information. Actually, this analysis is similar with previous traditional techniques which are implemented by engineers for knowing whether the change of design will fail an engine or fall down the bridge or not.
